Today, everywhere we look, it seems as if our world is falling to pieces. Overpopulation, drastic climate change and accelerating rates of technological change are terrifying. As if these issues weren’t enough there is another that is just as scary. Over much of the planet the very worst types of humans are in charge.
It should be obvious by now that there are a number of almost-lunatics with great power. Vladimir Putin doesn’t give a toss about human lives lost in his pursuit of his agenda of restoring the Soviet Union’s previous position in the world and more. He desires to go down in history as a great conqueror. Likewise, Kim Jong Un loves to dice with nuclear war as a game of self-glorification. President Xi Jing Ping of China has dreams of taking over much of the world under the justification of righting the wrongs done to China during the 19th century. Unlike Hong Kong, Taiwan has never historically been a part of China. Xi has promised to annex Taiwan, with or without force, during his presidency (however long that may be).
Even the current leader of the USA, Joe Biden, is not without blame. He has not done enough to reign in Israel’s vicious Benjamin Netanyahu government, nor dropped the unfair and ludicrous charges against Julian Assange. Donald Trump is more than obviously desirous as installing himself as the dictator of the USA, such as Xi Jinping has done in China.
Lastly, we get to Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel. He has done everything he can to prevent Israel’s High Court from convicting him for corruption. That is almost certainly one of his principal motives for being so aggressive with his war on Gaza. Seemingly, one Israeli life is worth 26 Palestinian lives.
Since the assassination of Israeli PM Rabin, by a maniac setter, Israel has been on the wrong path. No matter how hard honest Israelis tried to get rid of Netanyahu he always came back like a bad penny. His current extremist government is entirely beyond the pale. Fortunately, there are many honest and decent Israelis and other Jews who are not like those extremists. If this was not the case, there would be many people saying that there was some justification for the holocaust. The holocaust was indeed horrific, but it was not the only example of Mans’ inhumanity to his fellows. We have Kampuchea, Rwanda, and many other examples. These unfortunate people simply don’t have the power to immortalize their suffering, unlike Israel. If anything, the Netanyahu government seems to have learned a lot from the Nazis. Collective punishment, control of much of Israel’s media releases and denial of many historical facts are the order of the day. Extreme right-wing Israelis and other such Jewish people seem to use the holocaust as a carte blanche for any actions they undertake in the future. Because of the holocaust they can do no wrong, no matter how many innocent people, particularly women and children, they kill.
Since Israel possesses two of the world’s best intelligence agencies, Mossad and Shin Bet, the question must be asked, “How could they not have known of the impending Hamas attack, well before October 7t?” It is certainly possible that those agencies did know and reported that information to the Netanyahu government but that government chose to ignore the warnings so it could pursue its own horrid agenda and accepting Israeli deaths and hostages as collateral damage.
It should be apparent by now that this Israeli government wishes to remove all Palestinians from both Gaza and the West Bank. Israel has been stealing Palestinian land for decades. The building of hundreds of Israeli settlements in the West Bank is both illegal and immoral. A number of these settlers have been involved in the killing of Palestinians without any justification. The USA has failed to sufficiently influence Israel to desist from such horrid behaviour. More than likely this is because of the power, right wing and extremist Jews wield in the USA. Biden is afraid to demand that Israel hold new elections and not return an extremist government, under threat of complete defunding. Without US funding Israel would collapse.
The government of Iran has consistently terrorised and killed its own people. It’s a pity that the Iranian government and Israel’s current government, who hate each other, can’t destroy each other without damaging the rest of the world or taking innocent lives.
It is probably too much to wish for that we could have honest and decent leaders steering the direction of the human race.
